Beneficial Strategies exists to close the gap between the complexity of financial messaging standards and the speed at which modern software teams need to move.
Mission
We build tools that give AI assistants deep, reliable access to the standards and specifications that govern global finance — starting with ISO 20022, the international messaging standard that underpins cross-border payments, securities settlement, trade finance, and central bank digital currency infrastructure worldwide.
The standard is rich, precise, and comprehensive. It is also large, deeply hierarchical, and notoriously difficult to navigate. We think AI can change that — if it has the right foundation to stand on.
Origin
Beneficial Strategies was founded after nearly a decade working in banking software, where ISO 20022 adoption was always “three years away” — and then, suddenly, everywhere at once. The shift from proprietary formats to ISO 20022 as the B2B language of global business is real, it is accelerating, and most development teams are underprepared for its depth.
The company’s first effort was an open-source proof of concept: a complete C# domain model covering all 2,556 ISO 20022 messages, generated directly from the official specification metadata. Every field, every constraint, every code set — implemented and validated against XSD schemas. Over 50,000 source files. It demonstrated that the specification could be fully machine-represented, not just partially summarized.
That work accomplished its goal. It also revealed something more important: the hard part was never generating code in a single language. The hard part was making the knowledge accessible at all.
The Pivot to AI Enablement
AI code generation has made single-language libraries obsolete. A developer with a capable AI assistant doesn’t need a pre-built C# library — they need the AI to understand the spec well enough to generate correct, conformant output in whatever language or framework is in front of them.
That is the gap the ISO 20022 AI MCP Server fills. Rather than maintaining generated code, we maintain the knowledge model — and make it queryable via the Model Context Protocol, the open standard for grounding AI assistants in external knowledge bases.
The repository that once housed source generators now serves as the basis for a structured, queryable representation of the entire ISO 20022 specification. The generators are retired. The knowledge remains — and now any AI tool can access it.
Compatibility
Whatever enterprise AI tools your organization uses — we are compatible.
The MCP Server is built on an open protocol. It works today with Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, and any other MCP-enabled client. As the ecosystem grows, so does the server’s reach. There is no proprietary integration layer, no vendor lock-in, and no requirement to change your existing AI toolchain.
The Road Ahead
ISO 20022 is the flagship, but it is not the ceiling. The pattern — structured domain knowledge, made queryable by AI via open protocols — applies to any complex specification-driven industry. Financial regulation, healthcare standards, supply chain protocols. Wherever AI needs to reason accurately about a large, authoritative body of structured knowledge, the approach scales.
We are building that infrastructure, one standard at a time.
